My name is Adam Gilbert, and I’m so excited to finally be launching my creative community, Drumabuse.com! For longer than I can recall, I’ve always had a passion for creativity and tons of energy needing to be released. Since I’m a 90’s kid, instead of an iPad addiction and reality TV binging, when I was bored I played with drumsticks on post and pans and explored the REAL LIFE around my neighborhood with friends.

I was given a chance at an early age to discover my own being as a more natural life progression of personal experiences instead of constantly being negatively influenced by famous, rich people selling me on how to “be cool” or swimming in endless negative energy due to hearing the horrors of a 24/7 news cycle.

I’m fortunate to have found music and painting as a release early in my life. I had the opportunity as a young child to be more self-aware and was trusted to keep myself under control instead of being mentally and physically affected by pharmaceuticals. Real life, I feel, is about constantly checking your actions and looking introspectively at oneself – not as the center of attention – rather as the first line of defense against negativity.

By standing in someone else’s shoes or stepping outside the normalcy of life’s rulebook and truly questioning yourself first, you’ll have a greater appreciation for life, gaining the confidence to be open to other methods of learning.

Of course, it has taken many years of traveling, taking chances, endless support from family and friends, and making numerous mistakes to get to where I am today. Drumabuse has a special meaning for me because it’s not FOR ME. It’s an opportunity for someone else to find something different than their daily routine, read some positive stories, and have a place to start relearning the answer to one of life’s important questions – who am I?

My goal with Drumabuse.com is to allow one’s mind to be open to differences while not being afraid to creatively challenge indifference. While it is natural to want to fit in, it’s not always easy when there might not be someone trusting to give guidance or an agreement that it’s the “right decision.”

So take a look around here and find something fun, like a cool drum video from somewhere around the world, a crazy “off-the-wall” painting that can be hung in any direction to give a new perspective in a room, or a weird pair of socks to help us remind ourselves not to take life too seriously and to always be ready to help others learn in order to be at our best.

I will be updating this blog as I travel around the playing drums with my band Starset, so stay up-to-date with me by checking the Tour link! I will also be adding quality products that I also use for my daily routine (socks, backpacks, and hats).

REMEMBER: One must strive to be a learner in order to be a leader.

Relax and take a look around and help yourself help make the world a better place by drumming up ideas and being open to abusing your creativity!

  1. Congrats on your new project!!! I know this has been your dream for awhile, along with many others. You are one of the most determined people I’ve met. A constant inspiration. Looking forward to wandering around in here and seeing what next masterpiece I need to have!!

  2. Congratulations on the launch of drumabuse.com. Being a fan of Starset I’ve seen the evolution that the band has made along with all of the individuals that make it possible. Not only have I seen evolution in your artwork, but in as you as a person. As everyone can see from your results hard work really does pay off. I can’t wait to see what will be in store for the future as you continue to evolve along with the band and the brand. To quote a song lyric that I think fits “ take the path less traveled.” Again congratulations and here’s to many more years of success!
